On June 9, incoming students attended Oglethorpe's first summer orientation, known as a MAP (Making a Petrel) Day. The first-year students enrolled in their fall semester classes and received their Petrel Pass student I.D.

The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for spring 2017. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes more than 1,300 students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the spring 2017 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

The following students have earned the distinction of Dean's List at the Georgia Institute of Technology for Spring 2017.

A total of 11,101 students enrolled during the 2017 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2016-17 have been named to the president's list recognizing academic excellence.

Lia Scott, a Ph.D. student in epidemiology at Georgia State University's School of Public Health, served as the lead author on a research article about higher-than-average rates of inflammatory breast cancer cases in certain areas of the country.

The University of Alabama awarded approximately 5,000 degrees during spring commencement May 5-7. With a beautiful campus, hundreds of rigorous academic programs, world-renowned faculty and numerous opportunities for service and growth, The University of Alabama is a place where legends are made. The University of North Georgia awarded more than 1,800 degrees and certificates for the spring 2017 semester, including hundreds awarded in commencement exercises held May 5-7 at the university.

More than 370 accepted students have indicated their commitment to attend Oglethorpe University by submitting their enrollment deposit. We're excited to welcome these new "Stormy Petrels" to campus this fall! The Class of 2021 will begin classes on August 21, 2017.

Students received a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree from Samford University.

Samford University releases dean's lists after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

More than 150 students of the Georgia State University College of Law were recognized for their achievements during the college's Honors Day celebrations this spring.

More than 300 students were honored at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business Honors Day at Georgia State University, held March 30, 2017.

A graduate student from the School of Public Health at Georgia State University presented their research during the 2017 Georgia Public Health Association Conference in Atlanta on April 11 and 12.

Mortar Board is the premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for superior achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. The University of Alabama's Hypatia Chapter is one of the oldest chapters in the nation. Only a select few students on each campus are invited to join this esteemed Society. Mortar Board members are presented with the opportunity to join a diverse group of students from vastly different disciplines and interests.

More than 155 undergraduate students presented their research at the Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference (GSURC) on Tuesday, April 11. Students from a wide variety of disciplines shared their findings through oral presentations, posters, artistic displays and musical performances.

Georgia State University recognizes an outstanding nutrition student or students each year for academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and potential as a future dietetics professional.

This award is given to students who have demonstrated academic achievement, have strong leadership skills, and strong potential as future health IT professionals.

This honor society promotes and recognizes the significant scholarship, leadership, and contributions to the allied health professions. Baccalaureate degree candidates who have maintained an overall GPA of 3.5 or better are eligible for induction. The Alpha Eta motto is "Together We Serve" to represent all of the allied health professions. Georgia State University became a founding member of the Alpha Eta in March 1975.

The Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity Conference, held March 30, is a premier annual event at The University of Alabama that provides students with the opportunity to highlight their research or creative activity. In addition to bringing attention to the outstanding work being done by UA's undergraduates, the conference allows students to gain experience presenting, become eligible for cash prizes, and form relationships with faculty mentors and fellow conference presenters. Kennesaw State University congratulates the nearly 6,000 students who were named to the Fall 2016 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List were enrolled in at least 9 credit hours of courses and earned a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Kennesaw State University recently named students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Fall 2016 semester. The Kennesaw State students were honored by President Samuel S. Olens for earning top marks.
